About Me
Jonson Chong
“I believe we can do much better as a nation – if only we would stand together to make the difference. The failings of the Government should not be an excuse for us to fail our future generations.”
Professionally, Jonson is a practising lawyer, who prefers taking on public interest and human rights cases.
So far, Jonson has had an interesting career. His previous positions include being the Campaign Coordinator in Suaram, a legal assistant at Messrs. Karpal Singh & Co. as well as the Organising Secretary for Parti Rakyat Malaysia.
He graduated from the University of New South Wales (BCom, LLB) in 1995. Subsequently, with a British High Commissioner’s Chevening Scholarship, he attained a Master’s Degree in Human Rights Law from the University of London (London School of Economics & Political Science) in 2000.
Jonson’s previous community and social activities included being a legal advisor to Positive Living, a council member of Tiara Damansara, a scoutmaster in the 10th K.L. Air Scout Group, and he was the inaugural chairperson of FNS Alumni Network, Malaysia. He is now the president of his school’s alumni association (MBSOBA) and a Deputy Secretary General of Parti Keadilan Rakyat.
